Something random, because I wanted to try a new technique with the lineart and light. All in all a quick 5 hours picture. as you figured I'm also trying to improve my workspeed
And it's also a good opportunity to try that new critic system thingy. go ahead and bash, after all it was only a practice, but I want to hear what you think I should improve, anything that come to your mind, as long as you're not rude.
I really like the sky here, the blues are very nice, and the character pops right out from them, which is good.
I'm having a couple problems with the structure of his face. I'm guessing that you were going for anime proportions, but the trouble is that anime doesn't always look right once you've started adding in more realistic details, like the way you've formed his nose and mouth. I think this piece would actually benefit a lot from having his eyes shrunk down a bit, and his nose and mouth enlarged to bring him slightly closer to realistic proportions. Not entirely realistic, but just a bit to get his face out of that "uncomfortable" zone.
You may also want to add a tiny bit of a curve to the bridge of his nose. It's looking just a little too straight and narrow to me right now, especially the bottom part.
The shading you've done on his hair is really nice, especially the top where the light is hitting it most strongly. I'd suggest just "loosening" his hair up a little - a couple of brush strokes outside of the lines where his hair is blowing to the left would really help to make it feel more like hair. Hair does fall into chunks like you have it right now, but there's always those few little strands that end up going everywhere, you know?
Your shading is looking pretty good, I'm liking that you went in with a light green brush on his right cheek (our left) and added in some highlights there. I'd suggest doing the same thing underneath his jaw. Things are getting kind of dark and over saturated there for such a bright day. You might also want to bring some blue into his shadows, to match him up to the background just a little bit more.
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!

I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
